The internal cost of life in the 21st century world are the subject of Stacy Hetrick’s paintings. The abstract representations of opposing forces communicate the artists’ own struggles with anxiety and control in the modern age. The artist’s work conveys her meditations on the individual costs of social and political pressures, conformity and assimilation which modern life demands of us.
Working in acrylic and alcohol inks on various mediums, she utilizes color and application to give each piece a physical presence and emotive consciousness. That presence and consciousness speaks to an individual’s id and ego. Repetitive patterns juxtaposed to frenzied application of color convey themes of chaos, order, nature, and synthesis. The Artist lives and works in Massachusetts.
